Pine Plains NY is a small Dutchess County town located between the town of Milan  and the village of Millerton, it also shares a border with Columbia County.  Pine Plains was actually part of the town of Northeast but broke away in 1823.  It has a population of just over 2500.  The town is only  31.4 square miles but has 3 lakes, and the highest point is called Stissing Mountain.

 Pine Plains Area Information

A famous resident of Plain Plains was the founder of the well known Carvel Ice Cream Company,Thomas Carvel.  In 1969 he opened up the Carvel Country Club which featured an 18 hole golf course.  There was once plans to convert this property into a gated luxury community.

There is several opportunities for outdoor activities such as miniature golf, a beach and play ground located at Stissing Lake as well as nearby parks such as Taghkanic lake and Wilcox Park.
