LaGrange NY is one of the towns located in Central Dutchess County and was formed in 1821. At that time it was call Freedom, and one of the hamlets is still known as Freedom Plain. Later in 1828 the name was changed to LaGrange. It followed a similar pattern to the formation of other towns in Dutchess County. Lagrange was formed by pulling land from other towns; it covers 39.9 square miles. According to the 2010 census the population is around 15,730.

Many of the new residents moved to LaGrange from other counties, mainly from the south, and they brought with them a variety of small businesses.
LaGrange NY Transportation
The Taconic State Parkway and Route 55 are two of the major transportation routes through the area. Located between Poughkeepsie and Beekman this makes it easy to get work in Pougkeepsie, the county seat ,or get on the Taconic State Pkway for a commute to Westchester. Ten to fifteen minutes would also get you to the Metro-North Station.
